Nex sat down on Jacob's bed. She found her gaze drawn back to the wolf. Laying her back on the bed, she gazed up at the humorous expression. She felt the events of the day finally hit her. Her muscles ached and she was physically and mentally exhausted. She heaved a heavy sigh.
"Dave, do you -- well is it weird... Do you think any different of me now? You know, the vampire me? Half vampire and half necromancer." Nexilia said softly, not even recognizing her own voice. This was not the voice of Nexilia Carmen. This sounded small and scared, weak.
She knew if she were Jacob, she'd feel differently. Much differently. She hated to admit it, but she probably would have lost all contact with her. How could anyone like a mutt?
"How could anyone like an impulsive, cruel half vampire, half necromancer freak?" Nex wondered aloud, without meaning to. Not noticing until the last word was out.

Jacob lifted his eyes to the wolf on his ceiling, as Nex had, listening to her speak.
"Yeah," he murmured, "I have changed how I thought about you and your vampire side." He joined Nex at his bed, gazing at her as she watched the wolf heave itself from a river. He scooted closer and laid a hand over her own.
"My opinion of you has gone from seeing an annoying creepy girl who scared the shit outta me, to a young woman who is absolutely beautiful and unique in every way. I don't see a cross-breed, I see Nexilia. I see a strong independent woman with a full plate and no silverware. You just need time." Jacob smiled at her, stood, and leaned down over her, kissing her forehead.
"I know how anyone could like an impulsive half vampire, half necromancer. They could spend a day with you, have their ass saved by you, or get cornered in an alley by you."
Jacob pressed his forehead against Nex's, closing his eyes briefly. "Don't think of your flaws. Think of your perfections."

Nex sighed, closing her eyes and imagining for a moment that the heat she felt on her head was her own. She opened her eyes again and stared at Jacob.
"It's just so hard. All I can smell right now is your blood. And it makes me thirsty." Nexilia said, closing her eyes again, trying to block out the horrible images she had.
She didn't know how much of this she could take, wanting to kill every living creature she came in contact with. Every breath she took around the living was torture, each indrawn breath causing her throat to heat up and constrict.
Nex really wished she could die.

Jacob smiled. "Nex, if you're thirsty again, you can drink," he said as gently as he could. "I know that the first few days of being what you are, well, isn't easy. And from what I've read, vampires need a lot a blood on their first days." Jacob smiled nervously. He did read a lot. His father couldn't decide if it was annoying or good. It was annoying because, well, Jacob was a guy. Guys didn't read. But it was also good because it kept Jacob focused on many things, and he could learn certain bits of information that could be vital at times.
"I know it's gonna hard, Nexilia. But I'm here for you if you need anything." How corny can I get? his thoughts screamed. Yeah, like she won't think that's cheesy.

Nex tried a small smile for Jacob, but it didn't reach her eyes. She just couldn't stand this, being a vampire. She didn't know what she needed to do. she needed to find another of her kind. But that could end very badly, or begin just as badly.
"Thank you Jacob." Nex said softly, deciding not to worry about it for now. She reached over with one hand, intwining her fingers with his. The warmth from his hand replaced the cold in her own briefly, and when the feeling of life passed, she was left with a hollow ache in her chest. She had a heart. That didn't beat, didn't pump blood, did nothing.
I'm dead... Nex thought as realization hit. She wasn't alive. She was no better than the corpses she controlled.

Jacob curled his fingers through Nex's, smiling. Her could tell that his words hadn't convinced her. She didn't feel herself anymore.
She felt so alive when she drank from me, he reflected mentally. It's like a vampire's antidepressant.
Jacob leaned down, wrapping his free arm behind Nex's body, hugging her to himself tightly. He gently brushed his lips over her ear, being sure not to breath in it.
"Nex," he whispered, lowering his head so his breath wouldn't blow into her ear, "I want you to drink from me again." He tightened his grip around her and on her hand before she could defy him. "I want to help you through this, and if it means being a blood donor, I can live with that. Just drink," he pressed. "It makes your heart wake up, doesn't it?"
He recalled when she had drank from his wrist, how her eyes had alighted with an emotion of pure triumph that he had never seen the likes of.
"Is that why vampires can be so scary?" he asked her softly. He reminded himself of a child, telling his parents that he had had a bad dream. "Is it because the feeding makes them feel alive again?" He moved his hand to her head, holding her close to his neck. He knew she wouldn't want to, but he just wanted to help her through this seemingly constant crave for blood until she could learn how to cope. It was a hard battle for her, and whether she believed it or not, she needed help to tame the ugly animal within her.

"Yes Jacob. That's why. I know I still have a heart, but it's dying inside of me, laying without a purpose in me. Just a dull feeling where I know I should feel warmth and life. When I drink, my heart beats again. I have a pulse again. I'm no longer so cold." Nex said softly, staring at Jacob's wrist in disgust. There were other ways she could get blood if she needed. And Jacob would not be one of those resources. "Thank you for the offer, but you know I won't do it. I drank from you once and I could have killed you. I could have sucked every last drop of blood from your body. I might do it this time."
Nex closed her eyes, letting Jacob's body warm her and feeling his heart beat against her body. She wouldn't drink from him again. She refused. When she needed to, she would drink. But from an animal, or some of the blood bags in the hospital. Not Jacob. She couldn't do that again. And she only did it the first time because he had ripped open his arm.

Jacob sighed inwardly. He knew that she would refuse.
He actually chuckled. "Nex, I'm going to start carrying around a blade for times like these," he said lovingly. He refused to pull away from her, holding his chest to her chest, allowing his heart to beat against hers. "But, Nex, I mean it. If you really want my opinion, I think it's gross that you'll have to scavenge for a blood source. You're too good for that."
Slowly, Jacob pulled away from her, but still held her hand. "Don't think of me as just a blood donor. Think of me as more of a consort. My father says that a lot of vampires have consorts - a willing source for blood." He pulled her hand close, cupping it between both of his. "You won't lose control. I trust you. And even if you do, I can shift forms and get away. You don't need to worry about me, Nex. I've been through worse."
He hoped that she would understand. Jacob had been through Hell in his life. Even if Nex did manage to lose all control, it wouldn't be too bad. He knew how to cope. She just needed to learn how to put a leash on her thirst. Jacob knew she probably couldn't right now, but maybe he could help her.
"What do you think?" he asked. "Can I be your consort?"

Nex stared at the floor, not answering. She didn't want to answer. Her mind was already telling her to say yes. But she couldn't. The guilt from the first time was still clouding her judgment. She knew it would be the easiest, safest way of coping and getting blood, but even if she wanted him to be her consort, it would be too hard to get blood from him lone the first weeks. She needed 1/6 of his blood -- at least -- every day to sustain herself. That would be very bad for him. She’d already fed off of him once that day, another time would kill him, if not seriously hurt him. But occasionally it couldn’t hurt…she did need to learn to cope with her bloodlust.
“Fine.” Nex was shocked to hear herself say. She raised her gaze to look at Jacob. “But I can’t drink from you much. Not these first few weeks. I need a lot of blood every day. That would hurt you, or worse, kill you. And it would be torturous too. I will have to scavenge for blood. Besides, the thrill of chasing animals and the adrenaline, I’ve heard, makes us feel alive again.” she told him. Hoping he’d listen and not push the subject farther. Another thing she knew about Vampires was their temper. She didn’t know how long it would be before she lost her calm, but she knew it would be horrible if she did.
Nex rose to her feet, standing in front of Jacob and wrapping her arms around him. She buried her face in the hollow of his neck and shoulder. Amazingly, the smell of blood wasn’t that strong. She could hardly smell it, at least not enough to worry about losing it.
“Thank you, Jacob.” Nexilia whispered quietly against his neck.

Jacob wrapped his arms around Nex and kissed the top of her head. He had honestly felt his heart flutter when she pressed her head to his neck, but he wouldn't let himself get too worked up. "You're welcome," he murmured softly, squeezing her in his arms for a second.
He didn't want to push her. She had agreed, and that was enough for now. He knew that he was next to human, and didn't have the blood to supply her for long without dying. He could settle with having her out chasing animals. And if it made her feel alive again, he would definitely not argue with her.
Jacob couldn't help but feel his stomach clench with anticipation. He had no idea if she would bite him right now. On one hand, he was pretty positive she wouldn't because she was too worried. On the other hand, he really wanted her to. He could recall the rush he had felt when she had fed from his wrist. He wasn't sure if the rush was good or not, but he wanted it back. It was a selfish desire. He wasn't going to force Nex into any of it.

Nex drew in a deep breath, the scent of blood filling her nostrils. She jerked her head away suddenly as the enticing scent of blood caused her mouth to fill with saliva and her fangs slide out of her mouth. But the appetizing sent of blood stayed with her. Her mind, the hungry, savage new voice in her head, consoled her.
It's alright. I can drink his blood. Just not that much... I hadn't had much earlier anyway. Nexilia compromised. And before she could change her mind her head was resting on Jacob's neck again.
Her nose and lips were resting on the skin covering the large vein in his neck. She could easily see the blood swimming in it. Closing her eyes in repulsion and disgust, Nex allowed her fangs to sink down, piercing through first the skin, then the vein.
The rush of blood at first made Nex want to barf, it was too salty and too warm, but after only one mouthful she was craving more. Her hands gripped Jacob's shoulders, and she dug her fingers into his skin, not wanting her prey to escape.

Jacob gasped as Nex's fangs sank into his neck. He didn't even register the pain in his shoulders, pulling her body closer to him, pulling her into his lap on the bed. He felt heat rise into his cheeks, and he tipped his head to the side to give her further access to him.
The feeling finally had a name. Pleasure; hot, lustful pleasure.
Jacob gave a soft moan, trying to keep his voice down. His father was still downstairs. He couldn't be too loud or else the man would hear.
Jacob rested his hands against Nexilia's hips, pulling her even closer to him until there was practically zero space between the two of them. One hand slowly slid up her back, to her head, holding her close. Waves of pleasure wracked his body, sending tremors through him as his hormones stirred. He pressed his lips together tightly to help stifle another moan, feeling it buzz in the back of his throat. He had never felt like this before; his body didn't know how to react.

Nex felt something in the back of her mind. A sort of warning. She was drinking too much. But she was still so thirsty, she didn't want to stop, as much as she needed to. Angrily, she ignored the alert, shoving it to the very bottom of her thoughts.
Nex continued feeding, her bloodlust growing as Jacob's lust grew and his body started to weaken. This was how Vampires killed, they fed, offering the other being sexual pleasure and no pain until they sucked the final drop of blood from their body. That was Nex's plan. She wanted to drink every drop of his blood. She wanted to kill.

Animal instincts inside of Jacob brought the boy to the surface. Warning bells played a tune in his head, telling him that he must break away from this. Moaning again, Jacob pressed his hands against the bells, silencing them. He wouldn't give up this feeling yet.
What am I doing? he suddenly thought. He needed to stop this!
Jacob's human features distorted, his body compacting. Down grew over him, covered by dark brown feathering. Large wings beat the air, pushing himself back. Nex's fangs ripped from his body, and the hawk tumbled back onto the bed. Hurriedly, it jumped away, his wings silently working the air until he came to a silent land on the carpet.
The hawk's body convulsed, almost painfully, and it expanded, all bird features replaced by humanistic ones until Jacob lay on the floor in human form. He always ended up flat out on his stomach when he changed forms from hawk to human. He usually preferred to drop from the sky into human form to prevent this moment.
Jacob brought his hands under him, pushing himself into a push-up position before pulling his legs under him. His hand found the two small puncture wounds on his neck, and he pressed against them.
"Wow," he breathed in amazement. "That was... wow."

Nex snarled as her prey was ripped away from her, her red eyes following the hawk's every move. Until it turned into Jacob. The red literally drained from her eyes, as did the red flush in her cheeks. Her fangs retracted, disappearing in her mouth, becoming perfectly normal canine teeth again. She was breathing heavily, and her heart was still beating, pumping Jacob's blood through her veins.
Nex's eyes widened as she saw the lungless in Jacob's neck, and at the blood slowly trickling out of them. She wanted to stop the bleeding, knowing he couldn't lose anymore blood, but she didn't want to go near him.
"I-I'm sorry -- I shouldn't have done that." Nexilia whispered, standing and backing away from Jacob. She couldn't believe that. She drank from him. Again. And she hadn't wanted to stop.
